Welcome
Instructions: Each Discovery Step is contained in a one inch binder and numbered on separate continuous page(s). Some steps require the use of index cards. Enjoy!
5. Briefly from the heart, are there any original or ingenious actions that the hero may do or wish to take? Will there be a surprise event, an earth revealing or heartfelt moment that will have an affect on him?
Write a paragraph or more answering these questions. Remember to use some or all of your answers later when working on your scene cards.
6. Based on the theme, genre or to a lesser degree; devise one or more thematic concepts. These are different aspects of the theme of message implied by the story and should also be visualized (even if it is in your head) if possible.
These thematic concepts are the building blocks for tight integration of theme and message that will stand out later as we continue.
What are the angles or choices that you wish to examine based on the theme? You can visualize this perhaps by taking photographs based on your previous outline choices you have made. Then write every aspect that you explored converting them using the following thematic concept form:
Character’s name, Subject Matter, and the Character’s need.
